Weight Loss
Being overweight affects much more than just your physical appearance. Many aspects of your life become involved. Your mental health as well as your physical health can be affected. Some of the more common problems related to being overweight are: :
- development of depression
- loss of self esteem
- increase in health risks
- physical incapabilities
- An overall loss in the quality of life
Many positive things start to happen once a person begins to experience the realization of weight loss goals. These good things are the motivation people use to lose weight. Without proper motivation, goals are seldom met. Relief from the depression that being overweight causes, regaining of ones self esteem, the decrease in risks to your health and the overall improvement in the quality of your life should all certainly be motivating factors you can use to attain your weight loss goals.
An obese person or an overweight person with health problems should consult with a doctor before any weight loss plans are put in motion. The doctor will do a thorough physical exam and then will be able to recommend the best approach tailored for you. The overweight person who is in fairly good shape, except for being overweight, should be able to proceed without the direction of a doctor.
There are three parts of your life that you need to look at to lose weight effectively: You need to learn "how" to eat. You need to change your behaviors that brought on the excess weight. You will need to incorporate more physical activity in your routine.
Some basics that you should apply to your weight loss routine are:
1. You will need to develop the right frame of mind. In other words you will need to find motivation. The examples above should give you food for thought. Try to get motivated by thinking of the good things that you can look forward to with a slimmer more attractive body. Find a diet plan that you can live with. You should do considerable research before you settle on a specific plan. Some things that you should give thought to are which foods are recommended, how much, how often, and can you actually do what the chosen plan requires. Some diet plans are much more strict in what they recommend. You may want to take supplements. You will also need to add an exercise regime to your schedule that includes at least 15 minutes of brisk walking or other aerobic exercise. You don't have to do a strenuous workout to lose weight and keep it off. You just need to be consistent. Run, swim,or dance. You can find something that is not only an effective workout but one you will also enjoy doing.
2. This is one that I always stress. Set REALISTIC goals. I like to recommend this article on setting goals. Http://ezinearticles.com/?A-Desire-For-Change- Equals-Weight-Loss&id=708947 I suggest you read it.
3. Listen to what your body is telling you.. Everyone's body metabolism reacts in a different way to different weight loss programs. If your body tells you that it can't do that kind of exercise or eat that kind of food you will need to alter your plans. You must be adaptive to the needs of your body. You only want to lose weight you don't want to be completely miserable.
4. Drink plenty of water. Eight or more glasses a day depending on how fast you are losing weight and how much exercise you are getting. Stay hydrated.
Discipline. Consistency. Exercise.
I always recommend that you look at the Fat Loss 4 Idiots diet program. For some this has become a weight loss miracle. This really is a good approach to losing weight. All of the information is supplied in a very easy to understand format. Meals, food rotation, how much to eat, and when to eat it are all laid out for you. This plan is so inexpensive and so filled with information that I don't see how a diet seeker could pass it up. The information contained in just the E-Book portion is well worth what you pay for the complete plan.
I want to stress, again, that you will need to find a plan that you can live with. This might or might not be the one for you although I have not found one that is as simple, as effective, and easy to follow. Many cutting edge weight loss tactics are employed to make this a very livable diet plan.
As I have said before the only part of Fat Loss 4 Idiots that disappoints me is that there doesn't seem to be enough emphasis on exercise. You really must incorporate an exercise regime in your daily life to keep the weight off once you lose it. Losing it isn't any good if you don't make the necessary lifestyle changes to keep it off. You don't want to remain on a strict diet your whole life. The idea is to attain your goals and then strive to maintain them through healthy changes to your routine.
